Burnet County and Llano County residents can get ready for some spring cleaning with upcoming re-use and recycling collection events. The details for both events vary in that Burnet County’s event accepts more items.

Burnet County

A BOPATE event is scheduled for April 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Burnet County Reuse and Recycle Center, 2411 FM 963, just outside Burnet. BOPATE stands for batteries, oil, paint (latex only), antifreeze, tires and electronics.

The event utilizes both county workers and volunteers and receives funding from participating municipalities and government entities as well as donations from the public.

No rims will be accepted. The first 10 tires are free with a $3 per tire charge after that.

For the BOPATE event, used motor oil and oil filters are accepted as well as latex paint (no oil-based paint), antifreeze scrap metal (no lawnmowers nor appliances), and TVs are accepted but without consoles.

No commercial waste or construction items will be accepted. No furniture either.
