On Thursday, May 9, the Lake Buchanan/ Inks Lake Chamber of Commerce announced the retirement of Steve Buchanan as the executive director of the chamber and manager of the Visitor Center. Steve was awarded a plaque stating his lifetime membership in honor of his years of service to the chamber and work at the visitor center.

The Highland Arts Guild & Gallery will offer a unique opportunity for children to learn from working artists in a gallery setting. The 2024 Children’s Art Program is scheduled for the weeks of June 3-7 and June 17-21.

A group of local teenagers were recognized for their participation in the Highland Lakes Teen Court program recently. Scholarship recipients Aydan Ortis and Jeremiah Mosbey were among the celebrants at the Teen Court Banquet held April 29, at Lakeside Pavilion.

You may recall the song Oklahoma balladeer Woody Guthrie sang years ago. “As ‘round this world you travel, you’ll meet some funny men, some will rob with a six-gun, others with a fountain pen,” Guthrie sang in his tune entitled “Pretty Boy Floyd” about a desperate outlaw during the Great Depression.

Way back in the last century, the Highland Lakes Tourist Association started a Bluebonnet Craft Trail to encourage more tourism in the Hill Country. The first show was in August of 1968.

AKA, the dynamic vocal show group based in Lakeway, is thrilled to announce an upcoming tribute concert honoring music legends Neil Sedaka and Carole King at the Hill Country Community Theatre. The performances will take place on May 4th at 7:30 p.m. and May 5th at 2:00 pm.
