When the countdown finished Friday night, a gathered crowd cheered with joy at Lakeside Park to see the Walkway of Lights illuminated once again to take Marble Falls through the holiday season.

"This is our 22nd year for Walkway of Lights, and we had the opportunity to extend it about one-hundred extra paces,” said Bill Rives, executive director of the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce that organizes the Walkway. "We’ve got some beautiful extra lights and we’ve made a neat little place for Santa.”

Santa will be at the Walkway on weekends, and it will be open and free to the public throughout the week from 6 to 10 p.m., weather permitting.

The lighting ceremony was held after the Christmas Light-Up parade drew crowds to Main Street in downtown Marble Falls. Area businesses, first responders and even a few city officials kicked off the festive season with floats decked in holiday decoration. They led the crowd all the way down Main Street to Lakeside Park.
