Goodwill to open in spring
Goodwill has leased part of the building vacated by Sutherland's and is scheduled to open a store before summer 2013.

Goodwill has decided to open up a store in Marble Falls in a portion of the space in the building vacated by Sutherland’s on US 281 N and hopes to be open by summer of 2013.

The retail store leased a 21,000 square-foot area at the south end of the building at 2510 US 281 on Nov. 19 from Dallas-based Highline Real Estate Group, which bought the building from Sutherland’s.

"It’s going to take a while to get everything ready, but we are tentatively scheduling to open up in June,” Roberta Schwartz, director of properties for Goodwill Industries of Central Texas, said. Schwartz also said her company would look to speed up the process when possible and try to open earlier.

Goodwill stores are widely known for carrying every day items, such as furniture and clothes, at lower prices. Customers can shop or donate their unused items so they can be recycled and purchased by someone who needs them.

The Marble Falls location will include retail space, a storage warehouse and a loading dock area for donations. It will also be the first Goodwill location of any kind in Burnet County, and Schwartz said the company has been looking at entering this area for some time now.
