Rush hour 281 wreck sends one to hospital
Firefighters from Horseshoe Bay Fire Department clean up at the scene of a wreck in Marble Falls Monday on US 281 in front of Lowe's.

A two car accident on US 281 sent one woman to the hospital yesterday and backed up traffic on the southbound side of the highway during a busy time of the day for about an hour.

The accident, which was the second to occur in Marble Falls within an hour, happened in front of Lowe’s around 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday. Marble Falls Police Sgt. Barry Greer said a red Ford truck being driven by Keith Moore, 74 from Nebraska, was traveling northbound in the shoulder of US 281. Greer said he made an "unsafe u-turn” into the path of 44-year-old Pushpa Patel, from Burnet, who was driving a green mini van in the inside northbound lane.

The mini van hit the truck on the driver’s side, causing it to flip onto the passenger side and come to a rest near the Lowe’s entrance. Patel was transported by Marble Falls Area EMS to Seton Highland Lakes with minor injuries, and Moore walked away from the wreck and refused treatment. Moore was also traveling with three dogs, none of which sustained injuries in the accident.

Marble Falls Area Volunteer Fire Department and Horseshoe Bay Fire Department also responded to the scene.
