New organization formed for areas building industry
The newly formed Hill Country Builder's Association is now among the top 10 largest in the state.

Two building associations have merged to create a new organization that will be among the largest in the state.

The Building Industry Association of the Highland Lakes (BIA) and the Hill Country Home Builders Association (HCHBA) have joined to create the new Hill Country Builders Association (HCBA). The new organization will be headquartered in Marble Falls and cover Blanco, Burnet, Gillespie, Kerr, Kimble, Llano, Mason, Menard, McCullough and San Saba counties.

Both the BIA and HCHBA have worked together in the past, most recently on the 2012 Parade of Homes Tour.

"The time is now, and perfect,” explains Jayne Mortensen, former executive director for the two organizations who will stay in the same role with the new HCBA. "We have been working together for the last year and the economy of scale, market synergy and positive regional advocacy position was clear from the start.”

Mortensen said the merger puts the HCBA in the top ten of largest builders associations in Texas, and it is now about the same size as similar organizations in places like Lubbock or Tyler.
