Mayoral races in the area are beginning to take shape, as the incumbent for Marble Falls has filed for re-election and a recently elected council member in Horseshoe Bay has announced his intentions to seek the mayor’s seat later this year.

George Russell has decided to run for his third consecutive, and what would be final, term as Marble Falls mayor. Russell served as Marble Falls’ city manager from 2002 to 2008 and was also assistant city manager and city manager for Georgetown between 1998 and 2001. He said with two big years coming up for the city, he feels his experience would be beneficial.

"Over the next few years, we’ve got some of the tougher decisions the city will make,” Russell said. "We’ll have the hospital being completed, the completion of the bridge, and we want to rebuild some of the reserves we’ve had in the city budget. I feel with the experience I’ve had in those areas in the past, I should run again, and that’s the feedback I got from some of the people I talked to about it.”

Horseshoe Bay Councilman Steve Jordan sent an email to friends and city officials on Saturday expressing his intent to run for mayor in the next city election.

This is Mayor Bob Lambert’s fourth and final term in office, which puts the mayoral seat up for grabs in November. The election filing period begins in August.

"This is a big step for me, I didn’t do it without careful consideration,” Jordan said. "I contacted each of the council members before making the announcement.”

So the Mayor of MFs thinks the city will have some of the tougher decisions to make. Hmm could one of those decisions be on whether to Deannex the LMF sub or actually get complete services to that area. Or maybe it will be to annex more land like say Los Escondidos. IMO either of those two will be sticky ones.
