Going ‘bald’ for cancer research

Going ‘bald’ for cancer research
The first St. Baldrick's event in Marble Falls will be held April 13.

By mid-April, there could be many more bald heads in the Hill Country in the name of cancer research.

Over the next few months, The Tree House in Marble Falls, resident Craig Lusinger, and many others will be drumming up support for the national St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which raises money for pediatric cancer research by encouraging people to shave their heads.

It all culminates on April 13, when the Tree House, at 806 Main St., hosts the main head-shaving event where "shavees” will converge to turn in the money they raised from sponsors and watch their lovely locks fall.

"Shaving heads is the main fundraiser for them,” Lusinger said. "The real money raising happens before the event. You can show up on April 13 to shave your head, but you’ll have about 15 minutes to raise as much money as you can.”
