Educators leading Austin rally caravan

February 21, 2013, 10:00 pm by Adam Troxtell

This weekend, Marble Falls ISD teachers and administrators, including Superintendant Rob O’Connor, will lead a caravan of anyone interested in a Save Texas Schools rally to the capitol in Austin.

Drivers in the caravan will leave just after 9 a.m. Saturday from the Marble Falls ISD Central Office at 1800 Colt Circle and from Marble Falls Elementary School at 901 Avenue U.

"Some of our community members are planning to attend the event on their own,” O'Connor said. "But others have expressed that it would be fun to meet up and cheer for education together as a team."

If you look closely at what they're rallying about, this isn't about education "reform." It's about getting more money for education administrators to play with, without demanding broad fundamental changes in curriculum to get rid of the touchy-feely mush.

No, Sir. It's about creating an education fund and budget that is fair and reasonable for all. Texas does not have this in place and we have reached the point where we can no longer be expected to do more with less. We don't need a change in curriculum. We need funding. Yes, Mashcraft, contact your representatives and legislators and tell them we need education funding as a priority and that you're voting for the candidate that rallies loudest for it.
