December 17, 2012, 10:00 pm by Adam Troxtell

Sales tax figures are up from this time last year in Burnet County, and Llano County continues an upward trend, according to data from the State Comptroller Susan Combs’ office.

Last month, Burnet County generated over $54,000 more in sales tax compared to November of last year for an 8.68 percent increase. This November saw $679,300.51 generated in sales tax, while $8,864,124.51 has been generated in 2012 so far. That’s a 2.93 percent increase from the total 2011 sales tax revenue.

In Llano County, $69,389.42 was generated in November, up 14.23 percent from the same month in 2011. For the year, Llano County’s $892,558.95 is a 9.83 percent increase from 2011 figures.

For the state, $2.34 billion in sales tax was generated in November, which is up 13.1 percent from the same month last year.

"Gains across major sectors boosted state sales tax revenue,” Combs said. "Collections were strong in sectors such as retail trade, manufacturing, oil and natural gas, construction and telecommunications.”

Allocations totaling $552 million will be sent by the Comptroller to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts.
