Dripping Springs defeats Lady Mustangs

The Marble Falls varsity volleyball team lost to Dripping Springs 7-25, 18-25, 12-25 on Tuesday at Max Copeland Gym.
Dripping Springs came into the match with six players taller than six foot and a strong setter.
In Game 1, the Lady Mustangs did a good job of passing and setting. but the team was unable to consistently attack the ball or respond to a tough Tiger lineup.
In Game 2, Marble Falls inserted a different lineup with a group of girls who were able to make changes against the tough Tiger defense. The Mustangs rallied to 18-25 in game two and were unable to sustain the momentum in game three to come up short 12-25.
Jackie Winn and Sarah Lewis had five kills each and Makenzie Carpener added three kills.
Haley Coulter led in assists with 15 and was also among the dig leaders with five. Lacie Long had nine digs and Shelby Wyatt six digs.
Carpenter, Hanna Wall and Coulter had aces serving.
The block leaders were Coulter with one and Winn and Maddie Johnson teaming on a block.
The Lady Mustangs will take on Vandegrift on Friday before an open date next Tuesday. The team closes out the season with home matches with Vista Ridge and Cedar Park. The Cedar Park match is Oct. 29.
Marble Falls is 0-9 in district and 11-24 overall.
The Lady Mustangs freshmen and JV fought hard and rallied for many points, but errors took over for each team and the Tigers pulled away. Game scores for the freshmen were, 25-17, 25-17. The JV lost, 26-24, 25-15.
