Marble Falls girls drop opener at Dripping Springs

Marble Falls opened District 25-4A play Tuesday with a 58-48 loss to the Dripping Springs Lady Tigers on the road.
Marble Falls (9-6) began with a slow start in the district opener and trailed 27-16 at halftime. The Lady Mustangs were able to cut into the lead with a 22-point third quarter, but Dripping Springs outscored the Lady Mustangs 15-9 in the final quarter to seal the victory.
Sarah Stripling, who returned to action after missing four games with a bruised hip, scored 29 points to pace the Lady Mustangs. Marble Falls post players Teagan Hall and Hanna Wall combined for seven points against the Lady Tigers, who had three double-figure scorers.
Freshman Molly Myrick added six points and seniors Blanca Fonseca and Haley Stephens added three points apiece.
Marble Falls will face the Leander Lady Lions in the home district opener on Friday then face Fredericksburg in a Dec. 20 home game before breaking for Christmas.
The Lady Mustangs will compete in the Cameron Christmas Classic Dec. 27-28.
The Marble Falls JV lost, 48-38. The Lady Mustangs freshmen beat Dripping Springs, 45-17.
