Marble Falls dipped under the .500 mark for the first time this season Wednesday night when the Lady Mustangs dropped a 48-37 decision to District 25-4A leader Rouse at Max Copeland Gym.
The Lady Mustangs (14-15, 2-8) made just five of 16 shots in the second half and had only one make from someone other than Sarah Stripling in the final 16 minutes.
Rouse, which has clinched a playoff berth and is in position to win the district title outright, broke the game open in the second half with a run sparked by 3-point shooting of Peck. Rouse is 22-8 overall and 9-2 in district. Rouse closes with Cedar Park.
Peck made a 3-pointer from the top of the key with 2:55 left in the third to push the Lady Raiders to a 31-28 lead. Two minutes later she nailed one form the right of the key and teammate Beecham added a steal for a 36-30 lead heading into the final quarter.
Marble Falls was unable to get any closer than eight points in the final quarter as Rouse kept the ball moving in a game of keep away.
Stripling scored 23 points and was five of six from the free throw line. Four others scored, but nobody more than four points for the Lady Mustangs. Stripling was four of 10 shooting in the second half.
Stripling scored nine points each in the first and second quarters and the Lady Mustangs trailed, 26-25, at halftime.
Stripling finished with nine rebounds and Reann Hall had seven rebounds.
Marble Falls hit 12 of 14 free throws with Fonseca leading the way with four makes in four attempts. Rouse was 12 lof 16 from the line.
Marble Falls will take on the Vandegrift Lady Vipers Friday on the road and then close Tuesday against Vista Ridge at home.
