Marble Falls soccer carries 6-2-1 recordJanuary 22, 2013, 2:00 pm by Mark Goodson
The Marble Falls soccer team took on Copperas Cove Tuesday evening on the road. The team is 6-2-1 on the season going into the non-district match. The Mustangs went 2-2-1 last week in the Stephenville Tournament. The team opened and closed with losses to Waco University. Waco University 5, Marble Falls 0: Carlos Campos recorded 14 saves in the opening shut out loss against Waco University. Marble Falls 3, Stephenville 0: Against the hosts, Marble Falls punched out goals from Marky Marichalar, Uriel Solorzano and Misae Garcia. Chance Daniels, David Salinas and Danny Osornio had assists. Marble Falls 7, Cleburne 0: The Mustangs Campos recorded the shutout with he help of a strong offensive show. Garcia scored twice and Fernando Luna added two goals to pace the attack. Dago Galvan, Solorzano and Daneils each added goals. Jimmy Fermin, Sair Riojas and Salinas added assists. Marble Falls 1, Abilene 1: The team battled to a tie with the Abilene Eagles. Salvador Salazar scored the lone goal on an assist from David Salinas. Waco Unversity 3, Marble Falls 1: The Mustangs battled tough in the final game of the Stephenville Tournament. Juan Campos had an assist on Salazar’s goal. In the Marble Falls Winter Classic, the team swept through the competition Jan. 11-12. Marble Falls opened with a 2-1 win over Austin KIPP. Marble Falls 2, KIPP 1: Misael Garcia score the first goal of the season, racing down the right side of the attack before firing in his goal. Fernando Luna also scored. Salazar had an assist and keeper Carlos Campos have five saves. Marble Falls 8, Lampasas 0: Daog Galvan and Danny Osornio scored three goals each in the landslide win. Salinas and Luna tacked on goals. Collecting assists were Eric Dominguez (two), Galvan, Garcia and Ali Salinas. Campos had two saves. Marble Falls 1, LBJ 0: Garcia scored the game-winner off and assist from Daniels. Campos had two saves. Marble Falls 1, Salado 0: David Salinas scored the game-winning goal and Campos added two saves as keeper. The win wrapped up an unbeaten record in the Marble Falls Winter Classic. |
