Faith Academy boys pick up three wins

Faith Academyís Reagan Vaughn bounced back from an injury in the first game of the Faith Academy Tournament to lead the team in its final game of the tournament Friday night.
Vaughn, the season scoring leader for the team, scored 16 points and added 12 rebounds as the Flames beat the Johnson City Eagles in their fourth game of the round-robin tournament.
The victory ups the Flames record to 5-7 overall and avenged an earlier season loss against the Eagles.
Faith Academy shot 43 percent in the game led by senior guard Brian Freemanís four for six night form the floor for 13 points. Freeman also had two steals, continuing to use his quickness to ignite the teamís pressure defense.
Vaughn hit five of seven shots for the game and was a forced with his 12 rebounds. Lucas Wright was also a force inside and out. Wright scored 14 point on five of 15 shooting and added eight rebounds.
The Flames ht 19 of 44 shots for the game and were 18 of 33 on 2-point attempts.
Faith Academy was 17 of 33 from the free throw line.
Faith Academy opened the tournament with a 73-55 loss to Harper. Harper jumped to a 21-12 lead after one quarter and led 37-23 at halftime.
Vaughn had 16 points against Harper, but injured his knee when he collided knee-to-knee with a Harper defender. Picking up the scoring in the Harper loss were Rich Coleman with nine points and Freeman and Wright with seven points each.
Faith Academy regrouped to win three straight games in the three-day tournament.
The Faith Academy boys actually played all four of its games in a two-day span, finishing up Friday night with the victory over Johnson City.
In the teamís second game of the tournament, Faith Academy pulled away in the second half against Fredericksburg Heritage and claimed a 57-48 win. Freeman and Wright combined for 33 points.
Wright scored 17, including seven in the first quarter, and also added seven rebounds.
Freeman scored 12 of his 16 in the first half and had three steals. Jacob Metcalf had 10 points and Matt Manley had six rebounds.
Faith Academy led 42-35 after three quarters.
Against San Juan Diego, the Flames dominated in a 51-28 victory. Freeman scored a season-high 22 points. Manley had 10 rebounds and one blocked shot.
Wright finished with six points and Luke Herring, Metcalf and Manley added for points each in the game dominated by Faith Academyís pressure defense.
