Robert L. Booker Oct. 4, 1927 ~ Nov. 14, 2012November 09, 2012, 9:02 am by Staff Reports Robert Lincoln Booker, 85, of Burnet, Texas died Nov. 14. He was born to John Olin and Ila (Wood) Booker, Sr. on Oct. 4, 1927 in Lufkin, Texas. Booker proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was married to Dorothy Daniel. Following college Booker was employed as a geologist. He worked many years in that field before retiring to the Highland Lakes area. He was an avid Aggie and Cowboy football fan, a member of the NRA, and enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, crossword puzzles, guitar, piano, and reading. He is survived by daughters Barbara Svatek of Bryan, Lynn Block of Kerrville, and Sue Vaden of Uvalde, Texas; sons Robert Booker of Martindale, Texas, and Daniel Booker of Margate, Fl.; grandchildren Travis Block, Ryan Block, Rachel Block, Jolie Helms, Luke Vaden, Jamie Holmes, Jeff Connally, Emily Batchelor, Katie Svatek, Robert Henry Booker, Jack Booker and Justin Booker; numerous great-grandchildren; brother John L. Booker, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; best friend Jack Hollingsworth; and dog Trixie. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Booker in 2000. Memorial services were held at the Putnam Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Don Duvall and the Highland Lakes Honor Guard officiating. Internment will be at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Burnet at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center 1515 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, Texas 77030.
