Cottrell was a school teacher for 20 years, the founder of TeamKaren Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Foundation and a Sunday school teacher at Marble Falls First Baptist Church. As a 12-year cancer survivor, Karen was an inspiration to everyone she met. She was preceded in her death by her parents and a beautiful granddaughter, Marlea Laymance. She is survived by her husband David Cottrell of Horseshoe Bay; children Jennifer Laymance and husband Kevin of Chandler, Texas, Kimberly Harris and husband Huntleigh, of Spring Branch, Texas and Michael Cottrell and wife Kelley of Austin; grandchildren Noah, Pearce and Asa Laymance, and Hunt and Charlotte Harris; sister Sandy Pearce of Abilene; and sisters-in-law Sherry Barton of Ben Wheeler, Texas, and Evelyn Addis of Canton, Texas. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls. A service celebrating her life will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, Dec. 6, at Marble Falls First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, memorials may be sent to The University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O.
