Cottrell was a school teacher for 20 years, the founder of TeamKaren Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Foundation and a Sunday school teacher at Marble Falls First Baptist Church. As a 12-year cancer survivor, Karen was an inspiration to everyone she met.
She was preceded in her death by her parents and a beautiful granddaughter, Marlea Laymance.
She is survived by her husband David Cottrell of Horseshoe Bay; children Jennifer Laymance and husband Kevin of Chandler, Texas, Kimberly Harris and husband Huntleigh, of Spring Branch, Texas and Michael Cottrell and wife Kelley of Austin; grandchildren Noah, Pearce and Asa Laymance, and Hunt and Charlotte Harris; sister Sandy Pearce of Abilene; and sisters-in-law Sherry Barton of Ben Wheeler, Texas, and Evelyn Addis of Canton, Texas.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls.
A service celebrating her life will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, Dec. 6, at Marble Falls First Baptist Church.
