Born in Honey Island, Texas, she was the first of three daughters born to G.U. and Neal Patillo Choate. Garivay retired from Texas Employment Commission following a career in Orange, Beaumont, San Angelo, and Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters; and spouse Raul (Buster) Garivay. She is survived by nephew Tom L. Newton Jr.; several cousins; and special friends Paul and Sina Chandler, and Mauro Escalante. Visitation will be held at Porter Loring Mortuary North on Wednesday, Jan. 30 from 5-8 p.m. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Jan. 31 at 1:45 p.m. at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leader Dogs for the Blind, 1039 South Rochester Road, Rochester, Michigan 48307. |
