Ron’s early schooling was in El Dorado where his naturally friendly personality was a joy to his classmates and many friends. Ron was always a natural leader, even starting as Assistant Scoutmaster and Senior Patrol leader of the local Boy Scout Troop.
Ron graduated with a BS degree in Automotive Technology and Computer Science in 1977 from Pittsburgh State University in Pittsburgh, Kan. This is where he met his wife Sharon Harp of Neodesha, Kan. Soon after their marriage they moved to Texas where they have made their home since.
Ron and Sharon bought and owned the local Burnet NAPA auto parts store after first moving to Burnet. Ron then progressed to a prominent position at ATMI, a world renowned leader in the semiconductor industry. He worked for ATMI for 14 years, and his most recent role was Director of Change Supply.
He will be truly missed by friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Farmer, of the home; parents, Ted and Alice Farmer of El Dorado, Kan.; brother and wife Bob and Nancy Farmer of Bartlesville, Okla.; parents-in-law Dean and Lois Harp of Altoona, Kan.; sister-in-law and husband Deanna Harp and Matthew Brown of Washington, D.C.; niece and husband and great nephew Jamie and Travis White and Owen of Tulsa, Okla.; and nephew and wife Tom and Christy Farmer of Broken Arrow, Okla.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and the funeral was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Burnet First United Methodist Church. Burial was in Lakeland Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, Burnet, www.clementswilcoburnet.com.
