Barbara ‘Baba’ Wilson May 1, 1926 ~ May 9, 2013

Barbara "Baba” Wilson, of Burnet died Thursday, May 9, 2013, with her family by her side in Temple.
She was born May 1, 1926, in Whitesboro, Texas to Herbert and Jacqueline Scott. After Barbara raised three children, she received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Central Texas College. She worked throughout the 1970s and 1980s at various psychiatric nursing facilities in the Austin area. She took a position at Meridell Achievement Center in Liberty Hill where she worked until her retirement in 2006. In addition to her nursing career, Barbara had a successful business in Burnet.

Leta Mae Powell Peters Feb. 27, 1914 ~ May 8, 2013

Leta Mae Powell Peters, 99, of Marble Falls formerly of San Antonio died May 8,  2013. She was born in Austin on Feb. 27, 1914. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband John A. Peters.
She is survived by daughter Mary Kay Peters Cude of Marble Falls and  grandchildren Jim Cude and wife Linda, and Tammi Rogers and husband Don. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren Lauren and Caleb Cude, Matthew, Joshua, Paige and Jacob Rogers.

Minnie Bell DeLeon June 22, 1918 ~ May 12, 2013

Minnie Bell DeLeon, 94 of Bertram died May 12, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 22, 1918 in Burnet County to John and Dollie Loving Heine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Brack L. DeLeon in 1999, her daughter Patsy Jean, three sisters Sarah "Tip” Kinnibrugh, Gertie Mae Crawford, twin sister Maggie Thurman and four brothers William "Bill” Heine, J.C.”Clifton” Heine, Malcolm "Doc” Heine and Temple "Pete” Heine .

Johnnie Lou Young Jan. 2, 1930 ~ May 10, 2013

Johnnie Lou Young, 83, died after a long battle with COPD and cancer Friday, May 10, 2013. She was born in Richland Springs in San Saba County on Jan. 2, 1930, to Monroe and Birdie Newby Grant. 
She married Bill Young on October 28, 1949. They lived in Killeen until Bill retired at which time they then moved to Burnet and made their home on Inks Lake. 
Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Marie, Mona and Doris, and by brothers James and Dub. Her husband Bill died in November of 2001.
Johnnie is survived by her son Burl Young and wife Cindy of Burnet, daughter Judy Miller and her husband Bill Harris also of Burnet.

Dorothy Mae Null Oct. 7, 1934 May 9, 2013

Dorothy Mae Null,78, died May 9, 2013. She was born October 7, 1934 in Spurger to Durham and Bertie Best Bingham and died on May 09, 2013 in Cedar Park.
She worked for Sears for many years in Burnet at the Sears catalog store.
She was a very faithful and active member of the First United Methodist Church in Burnet for many years.

Sammye Gray August 21, 1931 ~ May 11, 2013

Sammye Gray, 81, of Cherokee died Saturday, May 11, 2013.  She was born to Mary Brantley and Sam Williams August 21, 1931 in Brady. She enjoyed reading, hunting arrowheads and visiting with friends.
Sammye is survived by her daughter Rebekah McCarty and husband Bart of Cherokee, sons Martin and wife Shirley of Cherokee and Mark of Gonzales, La., daughter-in-law Shannon Gray of Alpine, five grandchildren Laura, Rachel, Joshua, Heather and Symantha, four great grandchildren Josh, Allison, Brianna and Aurora. Also surviving are two first cousins Helen Schafer of San Angelo and Dot Long of Kerrville.

Alvin Troyce Vassar July 26, 1929 ~ May 11, 2013

Alvin Troyce Vassar, 83, of Kingsland died May 11, 2013. He was born to Albert Jefferson and Mary Ethyl Mayfield Vassar in Anson, Jones County on July 26, 1929. He married Erna Jo Vassar on January 21, 1961 and was a member of the Highland Lakes Methodist Church.
He served his county in the Navy, in the aviation electronics field, from 1946-1950. From 1952 to 1969 he was a butcher, then became a successful meat market manager for Furr’s and Piggly Wiggly stores. When Troy and Joy moved to Kingsland they owned and operated Vassar’s Food Market from 1969 to 1990.

Lela Mae Gatliff Jan. 15, 1924 ~ May 14, 2013

Lela Mae Gatliff, 89, a lifelong resident of San Saba died Tuesday, May 14, 2013.  She was born to Susie (Crawford) and Edgar Reagor on Jan. 15, 1924 in Belton.  Lela Mae married Earl Doyle Gatliff on August 20, 1942 in San Saba. She was a homemaker. Lela Mae taught a private kindergarten in San Saba for many years. She unselfishly devoted her time and talents for more than 45 years to community service organizations and beautification projects for the city of San Saba. She recently received the San Saba "Heritage Award”. She was also recognized as "Woman of the Year” and the city of San Saba proclaimed "Lela Mae Gatliff Week” in the late nineties.
Lela Mae is survived by her daughter Jana Osbourn and husband Gary of Llano, and numerous nieces and nephews.

James Robert Epperson April 14, 1949 ~ May 14, 2013

James Robert "Jimmy” Epperson, 64, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 surrounded by close family. Jimmy was born April 14, 1949 in San Saba to James and Betty Epperson. He was a lifelong resident of Valley Spring.
Jimmy will be remembered for his refreshingly honest, genuine and joyful spirit. His eternal innocence was a gift and reminded us all of the importance to live simply, love fully and smile always. He took great delight in western movies and country music. In his younger days, Jimmy was quite the horseman and took great pride in helping his parents with chores around their ranch and home. He joyously watched his sister, nieces and cousins show livestock throughout the years and enthusiastically supported Llano County 4-H, school sports and band events. God blessed us greatly with Jimmy’s unique happiness and his unconditional love for others will never be forgotten.

Mary Jo Keel March 30, 1927~May 14, 2013

Mary Jo Keel, 86, of Marble Falls, died May 14, 2013. She was born March 30, 1927 in Post, Texas, she was the daughter of Noah and Dollie McClellan. She was a retired cafeteria employee.
Mary Jo is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Betty Jo and Jay Coburn, son  Terry Becker, son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Prung Becker, grandchildren Cecil Jack and Taryn Seals (James), and great grandchildren Dylan Jackson, Dalton Jackson, Devin Jackson, Emmalee Williams, Carlee Williams, Jake Carter, Ava Carter, Grant Carter, Jake Becker, and  Kole Becker. She is also survived by her brother Noah McClellan and her sister Lois June Clark along with several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
