Buddy Strange Dec. 2, 1947 ~ May 11, 2013

Buddy Strange, 65, of Kingsland died May 11, 2013 after a long illness. Buddy was born on Dec. 2, 1947 in Ft. Worth. Buddy came to live with Joshua and Berity Goldsmith Strange as an infant and at age of 5 was adopted by them.
Buddy attended special education classes at a school in Arlington. After the death of his mother in 1985, Buddy went to live with his sister Elaine Morris in Llano. While in Llano, he worked at the Llano County Opportunity & Developmental Training Center. Buddy resided in several Community Care residential homes in the Central Texas area. At the time of his death, Buddy was a resident at Kingsland Hills Care Center in Kingsland. Buddy attended church at Bible Baptist Church in Llano and Grace Baptist Church in Kingsland during his time in Central Texas area.
Buddy participated in Special Olympic as a child. Buddy was an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys. Buddy never met a person that he didn’t like. He was always happy and had a huge smile. Buddy touched the hearts of all he met and was loved dearly by family and many friends. Buddy loved his Lord dearly and delighted in singing and praising his Lord. Buddy will be missed by all those he touched.

Betty Wilma Jean Edwards Oct. 14, 1926~May 14, 2013

Betty Wilma Jean Goble Edwards, 86, of Buchanan Dam died May 14, 2013. She was born at home in Bean Blossom Township, Monroe County, Ind., on Oct. 14, 1926 to Ervin Felix and Ladonia Louise Goble. Betty was a 1944 graduate of Stinesville High School.
Betty enjoyed worshipping the Lord and spreading His word. She supported many missionaries, served as a Sunday school teacher and youth group leader, and enjoyed singing praises to the Lord. She spent many hours in retirement facilities and nursing homes singing gospel songs to residents.

Lloyd Junior Hewgley Dec. 15, 1944 ~ May 15, 2013

Lloyd Junior Hewgley, 68, of Llano died Wednesday, May 15, 2013. He was born to Elsie Ruth (Hubbard) and Lloyd Rupert Hewgley on December 15, 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas.  Lloyd graduated from May High School.  He is the grandson of the late Irene (Emfinger) and R.E Hewgley. He enjoyed farming on his grandfather’s place in May, Texas.Lloyd is survived by his sister Betty Little and husband John
of Llano, nephews Charles Little and wife Alex of Llano, Robert Little and wife Leila of Houston, great-niece Sarah Little, and great-nephew Jonathan Little both of Llano, Texas.

Thomas Franklin Key June 6, 1935 ~ May 15, 2013

Thomas Franklin Key, 77, a lifelong resident of Llano County died Wednesday, May 15, 2013. He was born to Josie Debra (Allen) and James Hilton Key on June 6, 1935 in San Saba County at his home on the Barnes Ranch. He was a member of the Llano First Baptist Church and he loved listening to Gospel and old country music.
Thomas is survived by three sisters Ada Ruth Mallett of Burnett, Joan Oestreich of Llano, Joyce Staats of Llano, and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Imogene Cook.

Richard E. Bowers



Richard E. Bowers, age 82, died May 11, 2013 at his residence in Houston surrounded by family and several friends. Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 at Hawley Cemetery in Matagorda County on SH 35.  Memorial services will be 22 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in the sanctuary of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston. 
Richard is survived by his wife Janette, son George (Donna) Bowers, daughter Kelly Albrecht; step-children Connie Cornett (Betty), Clay Cornett (Deb), Cole Cornett (Cathy), Casey Cornett (Susan); grandchildren Chris and Amy Brinker, Colby and Colton Cornett, C. P. and Vivian Albrecht, Marshall and Stuart Cornett, Haley and Sydney Bowers; brother Adrian (Naomi); sisters Jackie Kieschnick and Carol Rehfield of Gruene, TX; "adopted” daughters Barbara Bowers and Angie Hendershot Boothe and many nieces, nephews and extended family.  Richard was preceded in death by his parents G. T. and Blanche Bowers; brothers Ray (Helen), Verner (Elva), Weldon (Tommy), Hubert; sister Lillian (Jack) Almon and infant sister Kathleen.

Anna Bess ‘Betsy’ Kemper Oct. 20, 1921 ~ May 15, 2013

Anna Bess "Betsy” Bennett Kemper, 91, of Marble Falls died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Betsy was born on Oct. 20, 1921, at her grandmother’s house in Derby, Texas. She was the daughter of Sidney Lionel Bennett and Martha Agnes DeVilbiss. She attended a two-room schoolhouse in Derby and graduated from Pearsall High School in Pearsall. She attended Mary Hardin-Baylor and graduated from Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos.
She met the love of her life and husband of 52 years George A. Kemper Jr., in the third grade. The two married Dec. 11, 1943, in Pearsall. George called her his "Brown-eyed Suzie.”

Jewell ‘Judy’ Aniol Aug. 23, 1923 ~ May 2, 2012

Jewell ‘Judy’ Aniol, 86, of Burnet died May 2, 2013.  She was born in Leander on Aug. 23, 1926 to Tom and Millie (Davis) Chandler.  
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alphonce ‘Al’ Aniol I, son Alphonce ‘Sonny’ Aniol II, granddaughter Dawn Cielencki, brothers Archie and Loyce Chandler, and sisters Effie Whitley, Essie Howard, Vergie Brooks, Bernice Stiles Brown and Evalena Chandler.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Sue and her husband Edward Cielencki, granddaughter Carol Ann Mills and family, sister Ethel Ames and sister-in-Law Dorothy Chandler, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

David Michael Thorp June 24, 1955 ~ April 29, 2013

David Michael Thorp, 57, died Monday, April 29, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at the Christopher House in Austin.
He is survived by his wife Arabella, parents James W. and Priscilla Thorp and siblings Jake, Gerald and Missie Thorp. Also surviving are his children, Danielle, Wendy, Jon and Stephen Thorp, grandchildren Macie, Emma and Xae. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
He was born June 24, 1955 in Pasadena, Thorp lived most of his life in the Houston area. His biggest pleasure was playing his guitar and writing music, and his greatest joy was his family.
He attended Galena Park High School where he is remembered for playing his guitar. A fellow classmate summed up his talent as teaching the beauty in the simplicity of just playing and singing "one guitar - one voice”.

Douglas Wayne Ray Sr June 30. 1945 ~ April 30, 2013

Douglas Wayne Ray Sr. , 67,was born June 30, 1945, in Burnet to Ellis Ray and Jessie Simpson Ray.  He lost his battle with cancer April 30, 2013, at his home in Bertram with his family at his side. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, two brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of more than 46 years Judy Amidon Ray, daughter Sandra Thornhill and her children Brandon and Katelyn of Bertram, son Douglas Wayne Ray Jr. of New Braunfels, son Joe Ray and wife Diedre and their children Evan and Andie of Burnet.
