Meet the Jackets day changed The annual Meet the Jackets day was announced
as Saturday, Aug. 12 has been changed to Friday, Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. at the
high school cafeteria. The exact time of the event was not available at
press time. The annual event allows the citizens of Llano to meet the
student-athletes who participate in LHS' three-fall sports football,
volleyball and cross-country. The LHS coaches are also out in force for the
event. The Llano High School football and volleyball teams will begin
practice on Aug. 7 just 12 days from today. Equipment issue The Llano Junior
High School coaching staff will issue football equipment on Monday, Aug. 14
at the junior high school dressing rooms behind Llano Jacket Stadium.
Equipment will be issued to the eighth-grade team starting at 1 p.m. and for
the seventh-grade team starting at 2:30 p.m. Those players unable to attend
will have to wait until the first day of school. Student-athletes should
bring any paperwork not yet turned in. All athletes must have proof of a
physical, medical history, acknowledgement of rules form and other locally
required forms that were part of the packet passed out in April on file in
the coaches' office. The first scheduled practice for the junior high
will be the first day of school, which is Aug. 16. Practices end sometime
between 5 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Volleyball camp coming to LHS Girls of all ages
will get the chance to learn the game of volleyball and sharpen their skills
at an LHS volleyball camp July 31-Aug. 4 to be held at the LHS gym.

at 817.629.8686 or 325.388.9038. Participants for the camp will be divided
up in two groups. Girls who will be in fourth grade through eighth grade
will practice each day from 10 a.m. to noon; girls who will be high-school
age (freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors). The camp will be staffed by
local and area coaches; graduates may assist in coaching each player. Camp
participants are encouraged to bring practice clothes, non-marking athletic
shoes, water bottles and a great attitude. A camp 'tournament'
will be held on Friday (Aug. 4) along with a skills championship event and
an awards ceremony. Local drivers compete Two Llano race car drivers
traveled to Atlanta Georgia this past weekend for a fabulous race at a
wonderful race track, Road Atlanta.  Craig Spaulding of Llano County raced
in the FSCCA class and came in third. Quite impressive for a driver who has
not driven that track before and competed against an impressive field of
cars.  Tom Dalrymple of Llano, raced in the Spec Racer Ford series and
