The Marble Falls Lady Mustangs will get a chance to test one of the biggest and best tournaments in Central Texas this weekend. “It’s one of the biggest from the number of teams that come in for the varsity, junior varsity and freshman tournaments,’’ Marble Falls girls basketball coach John Berkman said.

The varsity tournament has 32 teams, ranging from 6A squads to lower classification powerhouses.

The bracket started with the Lady Mustangs going against Lockhart in Thursday’s noon opener.

The first game of the tournament had Grapevine against San Saba. (Find tournament coverage in the Tuesday, Nov. 22 issue of The Highlander.)

“We’ve got teams from all over the state that come in with different players and different styles,’’ Berkman said.

Pflugerville Hendrickson defeated Fredericksburg in last year’s championship. This year’s field is wide open with Lake Travis among the marquee teams.
